This study is conducted to evaluate the developmental character and economical benefits under the plantation model of compound cultivation of multi-stems cotton and cluster redpepper compareing to two separate monocultural models. Three treatments were designed in this trail: multi-stems cotton and cluster redpepper, cotton monoculture and cluster redpepper monoculture.Comparing to cotton monocultural models, the results showed that although row space was increased under the compound cultivation model, there was no difference in development stage between monocultural and compound cultivation model. Analysis of the resource use efficiency showed there were higher at the aspects of photosynthetic rate, dry matter accumulation of per stem, leaf area index and root activity in compound cultivation model than in cotton monoculture model, but no difference in chlorophyll content. Meanwhile, comparison of compound cultivation to cluster redpepper showed that photosynthetic rate and root activity were increased, while dry matter accumulation of per stem and leaf area index was decreased. The experiments showed compound plant model had better cotton bolls quality. At economic analysis aspect, economic gain and ratio of input to ouput were increased under the compound model comparing to monocultural model. All the above results demonstrated that compound plantation of cotton and cluster redpepper had higher resource use efficience and increased peasant income.
