Study On The Cultivar Resource Of Sweet Osmanthus In Sichuan Province And The Application In Landscape

This research is a part of Application to International Registration Authority of sweet osmanthus (Osmanthus fragrans) Cultivars.Sweet osmanthus is a China-original plant and is one of the top-ten traditional flowers of China. Beloved by Chinese people, sweet osmanthus is the symbol of sublimity, triumph, luck, pudicity and amity. Sichuan Province is one of the main distributed areas of sweet osmanthus in China, so it is very important to conduct the research of the resources of sweet osmanthus cultivars in Sichuan Province, as well as the classification and landscape utilization. It is helpful to the subject of Application to International Registration Authority of sweet osmanthus cultivars. Sweet osmanthus is abroad in Sichuan, especially in Chengdu,Ya'an and Luzhou.In addition , the analysis of the landscape utilization of sweet osmanthus in classic gardens and modern gardens was conducted in this paper .Sweet osmanthus is a kind of traditional flower with a long landscaping history of more than 2000 years in China. It is also important to do the research, which can be as the referrence of the application landscape for the future.The main results are as follows:1. Based on the wide investigation of the cultivars resources of sweet osmanthus in Chengdu and Ya'an, 56 Cultivars are recognized, including 10 of Siji Group, 22 of Albus Group, 16 of Luteus Group and 8 of Aurantiacus Group. Among them, 33 Cultivars are firstly reported.2. According to the overall analysis of the characters, such as the flower styles , flower colors, leaf styles and tree styles, 9 of excellent cultivars were selected, including 'Aihuang' , 'Huangjin' , 'Rixianggui' , 'Yinbandanxin' , 'Baihaorui' ,'Jiulonggui' , 'Yuyejinzhi' , 'Wudie' and 'Yinyedan' .3. Based on the investigation and analysis of the exploitation and application of sweet osmanthus in Sichuan Province, this paper indicated the advantage and disadvantage in Sichuan, as well as the countermeasure against the problems.4. Based on the investigation of the landscape application of sweet osmanthus, this paper analyses and summarizes the form and principle of landscape application, which can be used as the reference in the future.
