Studies On The Physiological Characteristics Of Photosynthesis In Eggplant (Solanum Melongean L.)

Abstract/Summary:
The primary aim of this experment was to make clear the photosynthetic characteristics of eggplant.The photosynthetic charateristics of different varieties, nodes, growth and development stages and the effects of photo, CO2 concentration and temperature on Pn of own-rooted seedlings in eggplant;the photosynthetic charateristics of grafted seedlings that cions (Ermin and Kuaiyuan ) were grafted on rootstocks (Tuolubamu and CRP); the effects of low temperature(10/5 ,day/night) and poor light(60mol.m-2.s-1 and l20mol.m-2.s-1) on photosynthetic and other physiological characteristics of own-rooted seedlings in eggplant with four and five leaves were studed. The main results showed that,1. There were obviously different Pn among different varieties in eggplant, Pn of hybrid were higher significantly than ordinary varieties.2. The curve of Pn of eggplant leaves in theirs whole growth and development stages was single peak. The PAD of middle and lower node leaves were about 2535d.S.There were different photosynthetic characteristics among different node leaves. Pn of middle node leaves were higher significantly than that of top and lower node leaves, there were higher LSP, CSP, Amax, AQY, CE and A350 in middle node leaves, but their CCP and LCP were lower.4. There were different photosynthetic characteristics among different growth and development stages. Pn of leaves in resultant stage were higher significantly than that of seedling stage and florescence, leaves of resultant stage have hinger LSP, CSP, AQY, CE and A350 than leaves of seedling stage and florescence, on the other hand, they have lower LCP and CCP.5. The daily change trend of Pn of leaves in eggplant showed a double peak curve, and there was a significant "midday depression" at noon, but the extent and the time of midday depression were different, the reasons of midday depression were stomatal factors.6. Curves of Pn in eggplant leaves response to light, CO2 concentration and temperature were parabola. There were higher LSP, light saturated Pn, AQY and lower LCP of the resultant stage leaves with the increasement of CO2 concentration; with the increasemnet of light, we can find resultant leaves have higher CSP, CO2 saturated Pn, CE, A350 and lower CCP; the optimum temperature, the maximum temperature of photosynthesis and the Pn at optimum temperature of resultant leaves were higher than that of seedling stage, but the minimum temperature of photosynthesis of them were lower.7. The Pn of founctional leaves of grafted seedlings were hingher significantly than that of own-rootedseedlings, the extent of midday depression of grafted seedlings were lighter than that of own-rooted seedlings; the characteristics of light and CO2 requirement of grafted seedlings were better than own-rooted seedlings'; the acclimation to temperature of grfted seedlings was better than own-rooted seedlings.8. Characteristics of photosynthesis, contents of Pro and MDA, activities of POD and CAT of them affected seriously when eggplant seedlings were treated with low temperature (10/5 ,day/night) and poor light (60mol.m-2.s-1 and 120.mol.m-2s-1) for seven days. The results showed that Pn and contents of Chl were decreased, contents of Pro and MDA were increased and activities of POD and CAT were decreased, physiological characteristics of eggplant seedlings at low temperature with 120mol.m-2.s-1 light were affected more seriously, the extent of reserve at 60nol.m-2.s-1 light was better than that at 120mol.m-2.s-1 light. Finally, It showed that there were irreversible damage of eggplant seedlings at low temperature and poor light for seven days.
