In this experiment three sugarcane varieties: Yuetang86/368 (large stem variety) , GTll(medium stem variety),NongLin8(thin stem variety), which have different stem diameter were used. At elongate stage, Yuetang86/368,GTll,NongLin8 were sprayed with 200mg/L and 500mg/L PP333 on the leaves respectively. After treatment the shoot apical meristem and the 3rd ~ 5th primary thickening meristem of shoot tip of different sugarcane varieties were studied by microscopy. The following index were measured: width,height,area,cell division rate of the shoot apical meristem, and number columns ,width,length,area,cell division rate of the 3rd~5th young leaf primary thickening meristem of different sugarcane varieties . The agricultural characters were investigated accordingly. The results were followings:(1)GA, PP333 treatment could boost the growth and differentiation of shoot apical meristem. The effects on large stem variety lasted longer time than that of the medium and thin stem varieties. And GA have more strong effects thanPP333.(2) GA treatment could hasten the growth and differentiation of the 3rd~ 5th young leaf primary thickening meristem of shoot tip on the large stem variety, but have little effects on medium and thin stem varieties.(3) PP333 treatment could boost the growth and differentiation of the 4~5th young leaf primary thickening meristem of YT86/368 and Nonglin 8,TO GT11,PP333 chiefly boost the growth and differentiation of the 3rd primary thickening meristem.(4) GA could increase the elongate rate, the internode length and the width of neonatal leaf .PP333 could distinctly broaden the diameter of the internode ,and increased the elongate rate, the internode length and the width of neonatal leaf.GA and PP333 could boost the growth and differentiation of the shoot apical meristem and the primary thickening meristem of shoot, which have close relation with the stem diameter of sugarcane. And this effect was in according with the configuration growth of the sugarcane.
