In order to enrich the seed resources of tree in Jilin Province, develop variety of the creature and accelerate the construction of ecological and industrial system in Jilin Province, the areas introducing fine varieties in the middle and east of Jilin Province confirm to regard the suitable North America and the north of Europe as the area of origin according to its own climate, soil, vegetation distribution, landform and the general configuration of the earth's surface, geographical position and the other main environmental situations. Through repeated experiments and reservations in many , places for many times for more than ten years and comprehensively analyzing geographical ecological elements and ecological peculiarities of the seeds of tree, the eleven sorts of seeds of tree are regarded as the main varieties introduced into Jilin Province, and they are Pinus strobes, P. rigida, P. banksiana, P. sylvestris, P. nigra, P. ponderosa, P. resinosa, Picea glauca, P. mariana, and P. abies. The origins of the seeds of tree such as picea glauca begin to be researched, and the experiments of the origins of the seeds of tree and introducing fine varieties are carried out simultaneously to shorten the time lor choosing and advance the effect of choosing. Confirming the suitable scope and environment of development of the ten foreign seeds of tree in Jilin Province and putting forward operant methods of reproductions, and forestations, we lay a firm foundation to extend cultivation and popularization. Then we determine the norm of timber character of part seeds of tree succeeded in introducing fine varieties and contrast them to local seeds of tree, finally confirm the initial direction and prospect of timber utilization.
