There are about 500 specieses in genus Primula distributing widely over the world. Most of them have great ornamental value and live in the North Temperate Zone or the Alpine Zone. The approximate number of primulas distributed in China is 300, and Yunnan Province is one of the modern distributing centers. Although the Primula resources are abundant in China, few of them have been studied. So more studies are urgently needed when they have been inducted into the artificial environment.Firstly the Primula resources in the Northwest Yunnan have been investigated. The author investigated Jiaozi Jokul, Mount Cang, Lidiping in April, 2003, Mount Yulong, zhongdian, Mount Laojun, Mount Cang in Semptember, 2003, totally 12 specieses were founded. These 12 species each has its characteristics in living environment and ornamental traits, so wide landscape application can be anticipated.Primula sikkimensis in Sect.Sikkimensis and P. secundiflora in Sect.Proliferae have the widest distributing area and the largest quantities in the 12 specieses. When investigating they have had mature seeds so they were chose as the experiment materials. The studies were carried on in greenhouse and laboratory, the biology characteristics were observed, and at the same time the cultivation technology were groped for.The results indicate that the seed of P. sikkimensis needs some time to ripen after collected, it germinated well in the environment of 25 C and wide pH value;while P.secundiflora germinated well in the environment of day25 C/light 15 C , GA:i has considerable effect on its germination. It took P. sikkimensis two or three weeks from semination to enter the peak time of germination, almost after two or three weeks again, the first leaf came out. About 160 days after semination, the rosette outgrew. It took P. secundiflora two to four weeks from seminated to the germination peak, one or two weeks later, the first leaf appeared. 117 days after semination or so, P. secundiflora enter the rosette period.Through the research a more specific distribution of Primula rescources in Northwest Yunnan was known, and some cultivation experiences have been grasped.
