Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is a major product cultivated in greenhouse in China. However, due to the special environment in greenhouse, its growing process is always effected by fungus disease, which greatly effects its production and quality. Depending too much on chemical bactericide in preventing disease results in such problems as drug resistant and pollution of chemical fertilizer. It is necessary to develop new type of free pollutional bactericide for the development of vegetable. Ozone is a strong oxidant and multi-functional gas with great value. It has unique function under gas condition and can be soluted in water forming ozone solution which comes into ·OH and O2-. All of them can turn harmful substance into carbon dioxide, water and minarel, becoming O2 synchronously. Because of free-pollution, people call it desirable green oxidant used in mang fields such as water treatment, industry, agriculture, healthcare service and food industry. Now, application of ozone in agriculture is gradually developing.This experiment aimed at prevention of ozone on disease and effect of ozoned water on seed and seedling, indicating the feasibility of ozone's application in the free-pollutional producing of greenhouse cucumber. Results were as follows:1. The research used 3 kinds of concentrations ozoned water as antiseptic, to study the effect on the spores germination of cucumber downy mildew, cucumber scab and Fusarium wilt. The result showed that inhibition incidence of saturated water on 3 pathogens spores was 100%. Inhibition incidence of 80% ozoned water was 87.2%,86.8% and 90.5% respectively. While 60% ozoned water had lowest inhibition incidence on spore germination.2. Cucumber roots were inoculated with Fusarium oxysporum (Schl.) f. sp. Cucumerirum Owen, and Saturated ozoned water was used to prevent cucumber Fusarium wilt. Control effect of 100% ozoned water was 58.7%. Control effect of 80% ozoned water was 15.6%, while 60% ozoned water had lowest control effect, just 7.9%.3. Ozone and ozoned water were used to prevent diseases of cucumber in greenhouse. The result showed ozone had lowest control effect on cucumber downy mildew, powdery mildew and grey mold, while control effect of saturated ozoned was 48.9%, 43.1% and 32.7%.4. Increasing production percent of 2 kinds of concentration ozone were 45.24% and 57.14%,while ozoned water was 190.48%.5. The research used ozoned water soaked cucumber seeds to clarify the effect of soaking seeds with ozoned water on germination and seedling growth of cucumber. The result showed 10 min, 30 min and 50 min treatments could enhance the germination percentage, vigor index, respiration rate, CAT and amylase activities of cucumber seeds, vigor index and root activities of seedlings. While 70 min and 90 min treatments instead could inhibit the seed germination and growth, leak electrolyte and lower the activities of CAT and amylase.6. Spraying 1.52mg·L-1, 1.17mg·L-1 and 0.75mg·L-1 ozoned water increased cucumber seedlings vigor index, enhanced CAT, POD and SOD activities. Photosynthesis rate increased with chlorophyll content increasing.
