1 Investigation on flowering reversion of longan cultivarsFlowering reversion of 8 longan {Dimocarpus Longana Lour.) cultivars was investigated on March, 2003. 'Lidongben' and 'Songfengben' were resistant to flowering reversion, 'Pumingan' next, 'Wulongling', 'Jiuyuewu', 'Youtanben', 'Dongbi' and ' shuinanlhao' were prone to flowering reversion.2 Relationship between tree nutrition and flowering reversion of longanFlowering reversion resistant 'Lidongben' and susceptible 'Wulongling' were used in this study. The relationship between tree nutrition and flowering reversion were investigated. The main results are as follows:A. Basal shoots, whose leaves had high ratio of C/N, were less prone to produce leafy panicles within the same cultivar.B. Basal shoots, whose leaves contained high contents of starch and soluble carbohydrates, were less prone to produce leafy panicles.C. Basal shoots, whose leaves contained too much N, were prone to produce leafy panicle. However, basal shoots, whose leaves had high K. content and low ratio of N/K, were less prone to produce leafy panicles. This suggested that K could promote floral bud differentiation and decrease flowering reversion. Our results also showed that Ca could promote floral bud differentiation and decrease flowering, but further studies are needed to elucidate its function.
