Current methods for wood drying require inordinate amount of energy, meanwhile volatile organic components (VOCs) and hazardous air pollutants (HAP) are generated during the drying process. Therefore it's imperative to R&D an environmentally-friendly, energy-saving drying technique. At present although the simple combined of solar energy-heat pump has been used in practice, the uniqueness of energy reduction has not been taken advantage of. This paper carries out research for the optimal combined of solar energy -heat pump, finally lays a solid foundation for the further theory study, and the improvement of the efficiency of energy reduction.The methodologies of theoretical analysis and experimental test have been used in the paper. In part of theoretical analysis first introduces the mechanism of the solar energy - heat pump system, through results of thermal computation, the number of solar energy collector and its arrangement are determined, and the parts of heat pump dehumidifier also are designed. Then in Beijing area the thermal performance of solar-energy collectors and heat pump are anglicized. The total heat amount of collectors under various strength of radiation, time, the ambient temperature also been computed. The processing schedule of solar energy -heat pump combined at different months is organized based on the comparison of the difference of heat from heat pump and ambient, eventually established the thermal equation of the optimized union.In part of experiments, a great deal of data has been collected through the experiments based on theoretical analysis. Then the performances of solar energy, the system of heat pump are studied by the data processing. Results show that the control of temperature both the inlet and outlet, coupled with the criteria of thermal equation, eventually realize the optimal combined of the system.Compared with the conventional drying methods in the energy consumption, the cost, and the recycle of invent and the contribution to society, the solar energy - heat pump system significantly reduce energy consumption and environmentally protect the ecosystem.The innovations of this paper are the following:1 .The optimal operation of solar energy - hear pump is determined by the research of theory and experiment under various months, the strength of radiation, and different time in Beijing area.2.The thermal equations have been established based the research of theory. The criteria of the optimal methods for heating of the system has also been founded through the comparison of the required heat in drying kiln and the supply heat of collector and heat pump, provides the theoretical basis for the automatic control of the combined of solar energy - heat pump.
