10 cross combination with Kuerlexiangli as one of parents and their hybrid posterity were used for discussing the inheritance trend of main characters of pear. The results were as following: 1. How long juvenile phase lasts is a quantitative character which is controlled by multigene and presented wide-ranging distribution. The average juvenile phase is 6.5 years. The fruit size is affected by environment and non-additive effects. The average fruit size of progenies is smaller than mid-parent value by 40.1%. Kuerlexiangli have high heredity of small fruit size with average inheritance of transfer ability 73.26%. The inheritance of fruit shape reflects a trend of round and fruit shape index of progenies is smaller than mid-parents by 11.64%. Fruit core size of progenies is directly related to that of their parents. Progeny will have large core if their parents have, and vice versa. Fruit core size of progenies is small than mid-parents value by 13.99%. The soluble solid content of the fruit of progeny is a quantitative character controlled by multigene. The average is higher than mid-parent by 11.45%. The proportion of upper high-parent in all combination is 30%, and the average inheritance of transfer ability of Kuerlexiangli is 91.31%. 2. The new pear cultivar Xinli No.7 is released from the cross of Kuerlexiangli×Zaosu. It passed the test of the Crop Cultivar Committee of Xinjiang Uigur Autonomous Region in 2000. Xinli No.7 has high economic characters and fertility. Xinli No.7 blooms in April, 8-10, the same time as its male, 2-3 days earlier than its female. The ripening date is 10 days earlier than Zaosu and two months earlier than Xiangli. It inherits the fruit quality of Xiangli with the same redish skin and fine, crisp, sweet and juicy flesh and long storage life. But its fruit size is bigger than the female, with a small fruit core. Xinli No.7 is vigorous and the proportion of short stems is higher. The sprouting is between its parents and forming-stem ability is higher than zaosu, the same as Kuerlexiangli. Early-bearing and fruit-setting rate are superior to that of its parents and there are many axillary bud. The yield of Xinli No.7 in early periods is higher than that of Kuerlexiangli and similar to Zaosu. In full bearing periods, the yield of the three cultivars is equal. Moreover, the cultivated characters of Xinli No.7 are stable.
