Many kinds of saving water irrigation technologies have been got widely popularized. The product of irrigation is the basis of development of irrigation technology. Pressure regulator is one of the key parts of micro-irrigation system. Thus, the study on the mechanism of pressure regulator has important significance. The contents and results analyzed in this paper conclude the following four parts: (1) Through analysis of the dynamic balance on pressure regulator, four main factors that affect the performance of pressure regulator were obtained, which were the spring coefficient, the spring length, the upriver and downriver areas of regulating part and the space between regulating part and block cap. (2) For large flow rate pressure regulator, four single factor experiments were done to test the effects of the four structure parameters to preset pressure. In addition, a quadrature experiment was done. The primary and secondary factors were selected by variance analysis, and the regression model describing the relationship among four factors and preset pressure was set up. (3) For low flow rate pressure regulator, same quadrature experiment was done. How four structural parameters affected performance of pressure regulator was studied. The regression model about four factors and preset pressure was established by regressive analysis. Comparing two regression models, it was found that flow rate had little effect to the relationship among four factors and preset pressure. (4) Finally, three kinds of pressure regulators were devised, which preset pressure were 0.06MPa, 0.08 MPa and 0.1 MPa. Testing found their performances approximated to the expected.
