This dissertation used six red indeterminate tomato lines from Agronomy and Biotechnology college of CAU, which have been fixed by selfing several generations. In order to analyze the relation between sugar metabolism and the output, quality of fruit, we detected the contents of sugar and the activity of SS, SPS, AI, NI. We also studied the inheritance of sugar contents and the activities of enzymes of SPS, SS, AI, NI using the six lines as parents. The results as following:1 Sucrose, starch and total sugar have higher contents in the tomato youth leaves, afer decresing they increase in the functional leaves. While the content of fructose is highest in the youth leaves, then it decreases and maintains in a lower level. The activities of SPS and SS are lower in the youth leaves and highest in the functional leaves. The activity of AI and NI are lower in the ealier phase of leaves development, and creased gradually in the eldge of leavews.2 The contents of fructose, total sugar and the activities of AI, NI increase gradually in the development of tomato fruits. At the same time, the content of starch and the activities of SS and SPS decrease gradually in the development of tomato fruits.3 The weights per fruit in the lines have significant negative relationships with the contents of fructose in the forth phase of tomato development. There are significant positive relationships between the weights per fruit, the output per block and the sucrose's grents of leaves and fruits in the phase of fruit swelling quickly. There have correlations between the weight per fruit, the output per block and others indexes of sugar metabolism only in the separate phase in the tomato development.4 The general combining ability of fructose of tomato fruit among -0.49350.4397 and the parent 3 and 4 have the best g.c.a, the special combining ability between -0.498 0.433, the S46 have the best s.c.a.. The broad sense hereditability of fructose in tomato fruit is 85.8%, the narrow sense hereditability is 67.9%.5 The general combining ability of AI in tomato fruit among -0.4800.345 and the parent 3 and 4 have the best g.c.a, the special combining ability between -0.1900.240, the S24 have the best s.c.a.. The broad sense hereditability of AI in tomato fruit is 36.8%, the narrow sense hereditability is 21.7%.
