During 1999-2003,22 isolates of bacteria were obtained from Hami melon in Altai, Xinjiang. Typical isolates were examined for their pathogenicity, morphology, cultural and physiological characteristics, as well as test by the Biolog? system and 16S rDNA sequence. The results demonstrated that Njl16-18 belonged to Pseudomonas syringae pv.lachrymans; AAC201-1, AAC201-2, AAC201-4 belonged to Acidovorax avenae s\ibsp.citrulli. The inoculation tests showed that Njl16-18 infested cantaloupe, watermelon cucumber, pumpkin and suakwa vegetable sponge weakly, AAC201-1, AAC201-2 and AAC201-4 infested melon seriously, infested cucumber, uakwa vegetable sponge moderately, infested pumpkin weakly, and did not infest wax guard, edible gourd.
