| This paper gave a primary investigation on flux of sow in stock and breed flux of pigs in Gang Yu region .Four animals were dissected, main carcass traits and meat quality traits were compared on different years (20 years ago and now),different weight (30Kg and 70Kg),different breeds (Huaibei and Taihu ,Jiangquhai ,Huainan,Laiwu ,Dingyuan).Main economic traits were compared with tree-way cross of Huai pig,Erhualian pig and Jiangquhai pig. The results showed: (1) During the past 20 years, herd size of Huaibei pigs in GangYu region decreased sharply to the edge of extinction, the position of reproductive sow were replace by Taihu pigs and two-way cross of Taihu pigs; (2) Quantity of the three-way cross of Huaibei pigs was small and the three-way cross of Erhualian pigs was contrary.It is the main reason that Taihu pigs get developed more and more.(3)Some carcass traits and meat quality traits of Huaibei pig have changed during 20 years,but not too sharply.(4)The bone percentage and the lean percentage of Huaibei Pig is reduced when the weight increase while skin percentage and fat percentage increase.The amount of intramuscular fat is higher and cumulate more at early time; (5)Dressing percentage,eye area,backfull thickness of Huaibei pig is higher than Erhualian pig while ham:hip ratio is lower;Good meat quality was observed in the Huaibei pig; (6) The three-way cross of Huaibei pigs show obvious heterosis comparing with other three-way crosses which showed that Huaibei pigs were suitable for sow in cross pig production.. It is concluded that Huaibei pig was a good local native breed, but short of effective protection and sufficient exploitation. Protection and exploitation of local breed resources were also discussed.
