Scolytidae is one of the most important insect populations of the forestry and spreaded abroad by international trade. Many perilous wood-bored insects have chance of invasing China with wood-packing and timber. Dendroctonus valens LeConte is a typical example, which invasived China in 1998.Based on some foundation, what are quarantine insect index of some countries, genera of invaded species, important insects intercepted by custom of some country, serious forestry insects in some areas, 49 perilous genera are confirmed that genera have potential risk to China. The key to these genera is provided and these genera are introduced in the following aspects: morphological description, distribution, host, interception of some country ports and important species. By analyzed, some genera, such as Dendroctonus, Ips, Tomicus, Orthotomicus, Scolytus, Pityogenes, Pityophthorus, Polygraphus, etc. are considered that they have higher risk to China.Dendroctonus valens LeConte is a serious invasive pest in China. Dendroctonus has 18 species, 16 species in North American. Morphological description of D. valens and the key to species of Dendroctonus, including D, armandi Tsai et Li and D. micans (Kugelann) of China, are provided. Based on geographic and host distribution, potential invasion of species in the genus has been analyzed, the result show that all non-native species of Dendroctonus are impotant potential exotic invasive pests.Ips and Dendroctonus are regarded as attacking bark beetle and all species bore and damage Pinus. The species in the genus are more than 60, the key including 30 species is given based on living North America and intercepted on ports. Potential invasion of species in the genus has been analyzed, the result show that I. integer (Eichhoff), I. pini (Say), I. borealis Swaine, I. mexicanus (Hopkins), I. calligraphus (Germar) and I. grandicollis (Eichhoff) are impotant potential exotic invasive pests.
