In order to increase the yielding of sterile lines and hybrid F1 seeds in hybrid rice {Oryza saliva L.) production a new grain-increase formula, named AB-type, has been evaluated in improvement of cross-pollination of sterile lines, increasing of sterile-line's reproduction and F1 seed's set. Combined with plot tests with large-scale's the application methods of the AB-type formula were explored in order to promote their extension and elevate the efficient in practice. The results are described as follows:When the formula was applied in the three-line's hybrid rice production the main effects includes 1) rapidly to promote lengthening of undermined-length internodes under the ears of sterile lines, discover the ears and increase the numbers of fertile spikelets; 2) reasonably to adjust the composition of various internodes in length, improve the structure of ear's layers and decrease the obstacles of pollination and sterilities; 3) significantly enhance the flowering of female parents with the earlier and gathering, rise the percentage of morning flowering with 10-15%; 4) not only to increase the percentage of uncovered stigma, also prolong their vitality; 5) significantly raise the percentage of seed-set and yielding of sterile-line's reproduction and F1 seed's set. In total the yielding obtained in the treatment plots was increased by 26.9% of the control.The two-lines hybrid rice was used by this formula so that the internodes immediately-down ears was lengthened, and the percentage of spikes and grains without the cover was significantly increased. In the fields these measurements were applied to result in least disease through the improvement of the structure of ear's layers, decreasing of moisture between the plants, and adjustment of flower positions. The results showed that amount of formula with the 45g/667m2 may increase the yielding by 18.2% and decrease the disease rate by 4.33%.Compare with the similar products on the markets the AB type formula has the following advantages: completely solving the covering of ears of female parents; establishing the more reasonable types of plant and structure of ear's layers beneficial for cross-pollination; and finally obtaining higher yielding and efficient.
