Synagrapha falcifera multiple nucleocapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus (SfaMNPV) is a member of the virus family Baculoviridae. It infects pest insects and has been the subject of many studies of its development as biopesticide. In this study different insect cell lines were tested for susceptibility to infection by SfaMNPV -D clone strain through the use of a typical endpoint assay procedure. Differences among the cell lines in sensitivity to viral infection were clearly shown. Differences in the time required to produce infectious progeny were also noted among different cell lines in this study we have compared the potential of several insect cell lines Trichoplusia ni (Tn5B1-4 ), Spodoptera litura (SL-1), Spodoptera frugiperda (IPLB-SF-21), Pieris rapae(Pr-E-HNU9), L105 and Hz cell lines for the production of polyhedra and compared the efficacy of this cells culture-derived. Virus titer of Tn5B-4 was higher than other cell lines TCID50 8.7x108.Lower level detected in infected was in Pr cells TCID50 2.4x108. No Virions or polyhedral inclusion bodies were detected in infected SL-1 cells.
