This experiment was carried put in the experimental station of agricultural college, ShiHeZi University and the tenth compang of the first unit of Xinhu, the sixth Agricultural Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps during 20022004. This item mainly discussed the differences of cotton canopy structural characteristics in different density, different nitrogen and different irrigation condition of the extend breed Xinluzao6, Xinluzao8, Xinluzao10, Xinluzaol2 and Xinluzao13 in North Xinjiang cotton growing region. The study is mainly include cotton canopy structural characteristics in the whole period of duration at different condition, colony photosynthesis, and the transmit characteristics of the light quantum by CI-110 Digital Plant Canopy Structure Imager, GXH-305 rafrared CO2analysis instrument and the BQM measural instrument of light quantum.Plant density, nitrogen application amount and irrigation amount have direct affection to the growth of cotton. During the whole period of duration, the simple leaf photosynthesis, colony photosynthesis, light quantum of Xinluzao6, Xinluzao8, XinluzaolO, Xinluzaol2 and Xinluzao13 present certain regularity of varity. Increase LAI and canopy light interception, then reduce canopy mean foliage inclination angle and transmission coefficient for diffuse penetration, transmission coefficient for radiation penetration.For different density, the high density about 225 000plant/ hm2 is better plant density. Thus it is better to choose Xinluzao10 at high density(225 000plant/ hm2) condition and Xinluzao12 at middle density (150 000 plant/hm2) condition; compare to the two varieties, the response of Xinluzao10 to high density is more sensitive than Xinluzao12 and can achieve high yield at high density condition. With the increasing of density among different treatments, T, TC of colony were decreased and MFIA become small, K is increased. But too big denity will lead to the raise of respiration expend, at the same time, colony photosynthesis will decrease, thus the yield will decrease. At the condition of super high denstiy, the yield is decreased acute, it indicated that too big density will restrain the growth of unit and affect the conveyance of photosynthesis yeild to cotton boll and lead to low yield.For different nitrogen application amount, the application amount of 300450kg·hm-1 is better nitrogen application amount. Thus it is better to choose Xinluzao10 at 300kg·hm-1 condition and Xinluzaol2 at 450kg·hm-1condition; The experiment results indicated that both too many or too less application amount of nitrogen is disadvantage to form ideal colony canopy and high yield. Too less application amount of nitrogen will increase MFIA and T, TC of colony and lead to light loss, low colony photosynthesis and low yield.
