In the study, Liangyoupeijiu (Peiai64S×9311,two- line super hybrid rice), Shanyou63 (Zhenshan97A×Minghui63,three-line hybrid rice) , IXiangzhou 8 (conventional middle rice) were chosen to investigated the difference of root traits and uplands among various types of rice by solution—culture. The root traits tested included number of adventitious roots per plant(NARP), number of white adventitious roots per plant(NWRP) ,root dry weight per plant(RDWP), total length of adventitious roots per plant(TLRP), total length of white adventitious roots per plant (TWRP),length per adventitious root(LPAR), bulk of adventitious roots per plant (BARP),length of longest adventitious root(LLAR) and their upland traits. The analysis on the difference of root's characteristics was conducted. The correlation between the characteristics of root and their upland traits among different types rice was analyzed too. Foreign hormone 6-BA were sprayed at booting stage and heading stage in order to explore the methods to solve early aging of root of hybrid rice .The main results were as follows:1. The most heavy RDWP of hybrid rice was observed at heading stage, later decreased slowly, while the conventional rice' RDWP was observed at milk ripening stage. However, their BARP, NARP, TLRP and LLAR were observed at heading stage. The difference of all the traits was rather small at early growth stage, then became larger at middle growth stage, and smaller again at late growth stage.2. The highest growth rate of RDWP, BARP and TLRP reached after 30 days since transplanting, while NARP and LLAR reached between 15 and 30 days after transplanting.3. The main difference of morphological characteristics between hybrid rice and conventional rice was: (1) At early growth stage, RDWP, BARP and NWRP of hybrid rice were significant or highly significant higher than those of conventional rice.(2) At booting stage, RDWP and TLRP of hybrid rice were highly significant higher than those of conventional rice too. However, though NARP and LLAR of hybrid rice were higher than those of conventional rice, their difference was not significant. At heading stage, RDWP, BARP,NARP, TLRP and LLAR of hybrid rice were highly significant higher than those of conventional rice, but NWRP and TWRP of conventional rice...
