Research On Selection And Variation Of Taiwania Flousiana's Provenances And Families

Taiwania flousiana is one of national first-class protected tree species in China. The provenance test on Taiwania flousiana's 27 families from 7 Provenances of Yunnan and Guizhou was conducted. The results showed that the height, DBH, individual volume increment, timber specific gravity and fiber length among these provenances and families had significant differences at 12a and the heredity between their growth characteristics and timber properties is relatively independent with the control by heredity of above medium level. Taiwania flousiana's varietal improvement could be made from two respects of growth characteristics and timber properties at the same time. Through the analysis of test 3 good fast growing provenances, namely, Yunnan Longlin(L), Guizhou Taijiang(Jiao) and Guizhou Jianhe(Ang) and 5 good families,namely, LonglinL12, Guizhou LeishanGe7, Guizhou TaijiangJiao1, Guizhou RongjiangDan8 were preliminarily selected. The selected provenances'mean height, DBH, individual volume was 8.12m, 12.49cm, 0.0552m3, respectively. The PL of their height, DBH and individual volume was 30.28, 70.42, 72.66, respectively. Compared with controls the mean gains of their height, DBH, individual volume was 9.98%, 11.72% and 36.53%, respectively. The selected families'mean height, DBH, individual volume was 8.1m, 16.5cm, 0.1132m3, respectively. The PL of their height, DBH, individual volume was 75.74, 73.73 and 78.22, respectively. Compared with controls the mean gains of their height, DBH, and individual volume was 8.53%, 38.18% and 60.97%, respectively. According to Taiwania flousiana's timber specific gravity 4 provenances and 7 families were selected. These provenances were Longlin(L), Guizhou Taijiang(Jiao), Guizhou Rongjiang(Dan) and Guizhou Jianhe(Ang) whose mean specific gravity and genetic gain were 0.3252g/cm3 and 2.54%; These families were Yunnan ChangningC9, LonglinL12, Guizhou TaijiangJiao2, Guizhou LeishanGe5, Guizhou Jianhe Ang4, Ang9 and Ang10 whose mean specific gravity and genetic gain were 0.3404g/cm3 and 5.08%. According to its fiber length 5 provenances and 7 families were selected. The fire provenances were Changning, Guizhou Taijiang(Jiao), Guizhou Leishan(Ge), Guizhou Rongjiang(Dan) and Guizhou Jianhe(Ang) whose mean fiber length and genetic gain were 3160μm and 3.47%; The seven families were Guizhou Taijiang Jiao3, Guizhou Rongjiang Dan5, Dan8, Guizhou Jianhe Ang2, Ang3, Ang9, Ang10 whose mean fiber length and genetic gain were 3254μm and 5.64%. By using the synthetic evaluation method 1 provenance, namely, Guizhou Jianhe(Ang) and 4 families, namely, Guizhou LeishanGe5, Guizhou Jianhe Ang10, Guizhou RongjiangDan8 and Guizhou JianheAng9 were selected. Ang's mean height, DBH, individual volume, timber specific gravity and fiber length was 8.1m 11.5cm 0.0497m3, 0.3286g/cm3 and 3312μm, respectively. Compared with controls their genetic gains was 9.46%, 2.68% 14.52%, 4.22% and 6.77%, respectively. The four families'mean height, DBH, individual volume, timber specific gravity and fiber length was 8.6m, 13.6cm, 0.0855m3, 0.3390g/cm3 and 3193μm, respectively. Compared with controls their genetic gains was14.3%, 11.7%, 21.6%, 5.6% and 7.5%, respectively.
