Wheat stripe rust, causing by Puccinia striiformis West, is the most important disease in China. The main epidemiological zone in China is Northwestern wheat planting area. These article has analyzed the occurrence and epidemiological characteristics of wheat stripe rust in Northwestern China and found that the main reasons of stripe rust epidemiology be resulted by the occurrence of new virulent races, the narrow resistance range of the cultivars to different races and the planting huge areas of susceptible cultivars. In order to control epidemiology and damage of stripe rust, the researchers in China have made great progress on the control strategy, especially in detecting stripe rust physiological races, studying on wheat resistance mechanism and genetic analysis on resistance, breeding resistant cultivars, collecting and studying resistant source, analyzing the reason and providing the solution way to the loss of wheat resistance.According to the above research results, this article has be further studied the laws epidemiology of wheat stripe rust and wheat resistance variation in Ningxia province. We provided the integrated control strategy to stripe rust in Ningxia, which is that the best and first method is planting resistance cultivars, and the accessary method is using chemical control and cultivation measures. This strategy is the durable control way on stripe rust and could assure high and stable wheat production and superior commercial quality in Ningxia wheat planting zone.
