Now people attach great importance to ecological environment protection increasingly. Organic waste fertilizer will become a kind of important fertilizer because of is high effectiveness, non-pollution, water-saving and drought-resistance. In addition, it will play great role in agriculture and forest in future.Such animal by-product as blood meal and eggshell meal is full of nutrient elements necessary for plant growth. Therefore, it can improve the soil texture greatly as well as supply nutrient for plant growth and boost plant growth, improve the water-saving ability of soil, decrease water evaporation. Moreover, it can increase leaf relative water content(RWC) and photosynthesis characteristic while under drought stress, for which it has a promising prospect.In this paper, effect of animal by-product organic fertilizer(ABOF) on physical and chemical characteristic, shoot growth of walnut, nutrient uptake, leaf RWC and photosynthesis characteristic under drought stress was studied. The result shows:1. ABOF can increase soil fertility and improve fertilizer-supplying environment in soil effectively, which can alleviate the loss of nutrient necessary for plant growth. With the application of ABOF, major elements such as available N, P, K and trace elements such as Fe, Mn, CU, Zn are guaranteed for plant growth. As well as, the increase of organic matter will improve the microorganism activity, which will help to release the long-term available N, P, K, and improve the micro ecological environment in soil.2. ABOF can increase organic matter in soil, which can keep soil and leaf RWC at a high level, thus it can improve the drought-resistant ability of walnut, which is very important in dry areas in north China3. ABOF can increase plant growth of walnut. The plant height and shoot growth are more than CK markedly by 1.26-1.62 and 1.02-1.42 times.4. ABOF can increase the photosynthesis characteristic of walnut under drought stress. The result shows, different treatments of ABOF have different effects on the photosynthesis characteristic of walnut, but they're much higher than CK, which proves that ABOF can increase the photosynthesis activity as well as the drought-resistant ability of walnut.Based on the domestic and foreign applying situation of ABOF, it will have good production prospect in horticulture, research of ABOF on pomology will promote its application in production practice, which can provide certain accordance for is mass application in agriculture.
