| The modern greenhouse develops fast, but the specific tomato varieties used for cultivation in the greenhouses in north China are lack. According to this situation, the two varieties, Henhong-1 and Henhuang-1 with the stable character have been selected by Shanxi Agriculture University, which were suitable for growing in greenhouses in northern China. Moreover, two hybrids from Henhong-1 and Henhuang-1, 0301 and 0302, were obtained through crossbreeding. In present experiments the quality character, biology character and resistance of the four tomato varieties were studied, with "Jinpaiguocui", the main local variety as control. The results were shown as follows:1. Seed weight per 1000 of Hehong-1 and Hehuang-1 were higher than control variety. In the seedling and development stage Hehong-1 and Hehuang-1 grew more quickly than control. The seed size and seed weight per 1000 of hybrids were higher than the control and their parents. And the superiority was maintained in the following seedling stage and development stage, since stem thickness, plant height, and leaf growth of two hybrids were higher than control.2. In the measurement of plant cold-resistance, the activity of POD and SOD of plant leaves, and chlorophyll content of the leaves from hybrids 0301 and 0302 were higher than control and their parents after experienced low temperature in autumn and winter, which reflected the coldness-resistance. The activity of POD and SOD, the chlorophyll content of Hehong-1 and Hehuang-1 were higher than control, which was explained that their low temperate-resistance was better.3. After experienced hot weather of summer Hehong-1 was set more fruit than others. The average fruit number of truss 7, 8 and 9 was up to 2.35 when flowering at high temperature. The SOD activity and chlorophyll content of Hehong-1 were higher. These results meant that the hot-resistance of Hehong-1 was high. The fruit-setting, physiological index, SOD or POD activity and chlorophyll content of hybrid 0302 were higher than that of control during summer time. The number of fruit-setting of hybrid 0301 was lower than control during hot weather period.4. With respect to fruit quality, the content of mineral element Ca, Fe, Zn, and Vitamin C, the dry matter content and the ratio of sugar/acid of the four tomato varieties have a litter difference compared with control. However the fruit uniformity of Hehong-1 and hybrid 0301 and 0302 were higher than control. The fruit colour and hardness were absolutely well with an attractive in local market Meanwhile, the ratio of marketable fruit after storing one month was higher than 60%. In addition, Hehong-1 has a good taste, therefore a better market prospect.In a word, Hehong-1 could be used as a specific tomato variety for greenhouse cultivation. Hehuang-1 was suggested as a breeding material. Hybrid 0302 could be used as varieties for long-season-cultivation in the greenhouses. |
