The Study was made up of the broody rules in muscovy ducks, the change regularity of reproductive hormone during the broody period in muscovy ducks and the polymorphism of microsatellite on PRL gene in muscovy ducks. The abdominal palpation method was applied to the further research of the broody rules in muscovy ducks in experiment Ⅰ .The results showed: (1)The individual difference of the broody period was very big, the shortest of which was only 30 days, while the longest one was 106 days. And they brooded frequently. The rate of the broody ducks between the first and the second ovulatory period was nearly the same. They were 18.25% and 17.18% respectively.(2) The weight of the duck was positively correlated markedly with the average age of the first laying time (P<0.05) (R=0.198). And the weight of the duck was positively correlated very markedly with the the length of the broody period(p<0.01) (R=0.598).The change of the weight during the broody period was positively correlated very markedly with the length of the broody period (p<0.01) (R=0.973). (3)The laying amount was negatively correlated very markedly with the length of the broody period (p<0.01) (R= -0.567).The laying time of the first egg of the broody ducks came earlier than the non-broody duck, and also the laying climax time was shorter: the laying-rate declined quickly, while the non-broody ducks could keep a high laying-rate and a longer laying-climax period. The change regularity of reproductive hormone during the broody period in muscovy ducks was studied by radioactivity immunity analysis(RIA)in experiment Ⅱ. The results showed: (1) The concentrations of plasma PRL(0.68±0.11ng/mL) during the broody period were significantly higher than those(0.33±0.04ng/mL) during the ovulatory period (p<0.01);(2) The concentrations of plasma VIP(587.61± 119.17pg/mL) during the broody period were significantly higher than those(307.44±96.92pg/mL)during the ovulatory period(p<0.01);(3) There were obvious differences in the concentrations of plasma LH between the ovulatory period and the broody period, the concentrations of plasma LH(33.17± 15.49mIU/mL) during the ovulatory period were significantly higher than those(5.56 ± 1.99mIU/mL) during the...
