Eggshell quality is an important problem in egg production. The research on egg quality has gone on approaching sixty years but poor quality eggshell still is one of important facts that cause economic losses in egg production. Relative data in China show that egg loss rate from collecting egg to consumer is 8%. And the rate will be about 10% if classification, watering egg and other facts are considered. So exploring methods to improve eggshell is very important in developing egg production. After researching forming process, structure and character of eggshell, we analyzed the facts that influenced eggshell quality, mainly nutrition facts, and especially Silica-alumina mineral. Silica-alumina mineral has special crystal structure, greater specific surface area and greater ion absorption and exchange capacity. From 1965 when it was used as eliminating smelly dosage on livestock farm in Japan to now, it has been studied taking as mineral additive in many countries, and also got good feeding effects in the use of raising livestock, birds and aquatic animal. Silica-alumina mineral as eggshell strengthening dosage with other nutrition matter, however, have little reports. A contrast trial that 3% eggshell strengthening dosage, which main ingredient is silica-alumina mineral, added and do not added in the feed of trade egg chicken and reproductive chicken had been done for 56 days. The result showed that the compound strengthening dosage of silica-alumina mineral could change the eggshell structure. There is small and little space and typical and standard diamond-shaped structure consisted of calcium in the nipple level of eggshell. There is a relative order sponge level (calcium fibre) in the middle, and a thicker cuticle level in the outer space of eggshell. The strength of eggshell is heightened by 19.5%,and has a significant difference (P<0.05).At the same time,broken rate of egg is decreased by 49.36%,and also has a has a significant difference (P <0.05).The use rate of crude protein and energy in the home bird feed is go up, and egg production rate is raised by 10.93%. The dead rate of chicken, nutrition quality of egg hatchery property and other indexes are not influenced Economic returns are increased markedly.
