Fifty-one strains isolated from the chicken manure and the soil polluted by chicken manure. Ten strains were proved to be quite effective in deodorization of the chicken manure and identified as Planococcus sp., Staphyoccus sp., Brachybacterium sp., Pseudomonas sp. and Trichoderma sp. respectively. All the tested strains had different odor decreasing ability and 25 strains degraded odor at the preliminary screening experiment. The result of further screening experiment showed that after 20 days' fermentation, the odor degrees of the compost were different, and five bacteria strains degraded the odor totally, and the odor degree was zero. The average concentration of NH3 and H2S emission was 0.037μg/kg and 0.672μg/kg, and was reduced 32.0% and 39.8% respectively, compared with the CK. Another 3 bacteria, 2 fungus also had good ability to degrade the odor, and the odor degree of the compost was "1". And the average concentration of NH3 and H2S emission was 0.038μg/kg and 0.744 μg/kg, reduced 30.5% and 33.3% respectively, compared with the CK. While the concentration of NH3 and H2S emission of the CK was 0.055ug/k g and 1.116μg/kg .The results of orthogonal test suggested that the amount of chicken manure, the amount of corn straw powder, and water content had affected the NH3 emission significantly, but not affected the H2S emission. The optimum fermentation ingredients were as the following: chicken manure 80%, corn straw powder 20%, the ration of material and water content 1:1.The results experiment of controlling odor of inoculation of two strains or three strains mixture indicated that after cultivated for 20 days, the H2S and NH3 emission from two strains mixture, such as "Fl-1/B11"and "F1-1/B13" and "F2-3/B10" and "F2-3/B1-8" and "F2-3/B2-5" and "B10/B11" and "B11/B13" and "B13/B2-2"was lower than that of the other treatments, and their average concentration of NH3 and H2S emitted was 0.031μ g/kg and 0.494μg/kg, reduced 32.0% and 39.8% respectively, compared with the CK, When inoculating the three strains mixture, such as "F1-1/B11/B13" and "F2-3/B10/B1-8"and "F2-3/B10/B2-5" and "B10/B11/B13" and "B11/B13/B2-2" the average amount NH3 and H2S emittedwas 0.030 u g/kg and 0.371 y g/kg, reduced 54.9% and 59.9% respectively, compared with the CK. The effect of deodorization of inoculation combination of strains was better than that of single strain.
