Solenopsis invicta Buren is a kind of invasive insects who do harm to agricultural production, ecological environment, and human health. Solenopsis invicta Buren initially invaded Guangdong province in 2004,and subsequently encroached Guangxi and Hunan province, causing substantial destructions. At present, it occurs in some part of the country and little is known about their potential risk. Making risk analysis on their potential distribution could provide information for the plant quarantine departments, so that the departments can adopt different methods depending on the types of potential risky areas, which has practical significance. On the basis of the average annual degree-days and precipitation as well as altitude, we utilize ArcGIS 8.3 to predict its potential distributions in China. The potential establishment areas are divided into five categories by utilizing Kriging interpolation function, namely extremely-high suitable area, highly suitable area, suitable area, mildly suitable area, and unsuitable area for red imported fire ant. The result indicates that extremely-high suitable areas include southern part of Guangxi, central and southern part of Guangdong and Taiwan, Hainan, HongKong and Macao.Highly suitable areas are located in southern part of Yunnan, Hunan and Zhejiang, most part of Guangxi, northern part of Guangdong, and Taiwan, Fujian and Jiangxi provinces. Southern part of Yunnan, eastern part of Guizhou southern part of Henan, central and southern part of Anhui and Jiangsu, northern part of Zhejiang, central and southern part of Hubei, Chongqing, Shanghai are suitable areas. Northern part of Hubei, Anhui, Henan and Jiangsu, part of Shandong, Beijing, Tianjian, southern part of Shanxi, central and eastern...
