The cheese mite, Tyrophagus putrescenlian is a cosmopolitan species infesting many kinds of foods and stored productions. In this paper, deep and clear researches on comparative biological and ecological characteristics of Tyrophagus putrescentian were carried out under manipulative conditions, and alarm pheromone of the mite was also studied. The results and conclusions are as follows:1. At constant temperatures of 12.5℃, 15℃, 20℃, 25℃ and 30℃, The developmental period different stage of Tyrophagus putrescentiae were calculated at the same constant temperature but different foods. In the mites bred with yeast, whole generation took from 48.04±3.848d to 8.41±0.6725d. While in the mites bred with corn, whole generation last from 78.79±2.560d to 10.77±1.021 d. The results showed that the relationship between the developmental period and the temperature was negative correlation, i.e. with the increase of temperature the time needed for development was shortened.2. The developmental threshold temperature (DTT) and effective accumulated temperature (EAT) of Tyrophagus putrescentiae were different at the same constant temperature but different foods. In the mite bred with yeast, DTT and EAT were 10.18±1.665℃ and 155.44±19.767 d·℃ under whole generation, While in the mites bred with yeast , DTT and EAT were 10.52± 0.047℃ and 208.33±1.812 d·℃. The result showed that DTT of the mites bred with yeast was lower than that with corn except the stage of egg, and EAT was shorter.3. The body length and width of the adult mites were used to compare influence of the foods and temperatures on the mite development. The results showed that food ingredient played a very important roles, and temperature almost have no effect to body size of the mites.4. Tyrophagus putrescentiae 's preference after 30 minutes and eaten quantity after 24 hours to all kinds of foods were used to compare influence of foods ingredient on the mites. The results showed that the food containing full fat and protein was the...
