Plecoptera oculata Moore is subordinate to Noctuidae,Lepidoptera,which is one of the defoliators harming Dalbergia odorifera.Plecoptera oculata Moore pests are occurred in Hainan,Guangdong,Guangxi,Yunnan province of C hina,and increasing with each passing year.This paper discusses the research of reproductive biology characte ristics of Plecoptera oculata Moore,including courtship,mating behavior and circadian rhythm of sex pheromone release.Using solvent extraction to extract female moth sex pheromone,determinating electroantennogram of rough extraction,GC-EAD and GC-MS analysis,by obtaining an active component of sex pheromone triggering electrophysiological response from the Plecoptera oculata Moore antennas.The main research results were as follows:Reproductive biology of Plecoptera oculata Moore: According to the observation,emergence phenomenon is visible all of the day,female and male moths are in ratio of 1:17 to 1.26.Adaults start mating in the next day.Calling and mating behavior can be observed during the 2 to 8 hours of the dark phase.3-d-old female moths had the highest Calling rate,while 3-d-old moths have the highest secretion of sex pheromone.Calling is mainly happened during the 3.5 to 7.5 hours of the dark phase.The higher-age adults' mating rate reduces.And the peak time of female courtship happened during the 4 to 6 hours of the dark phase.Mating duration can be up to 230 minutes and that of higer-age and lower-age of adults is longer than middle-age adults.Through the experiment of feeding different nutrient sources on the Plecoptera oculata Moore,discovered that the female moths fed 10% honey water has the highest amount average of eggs which is up to(116.29±8.41)and significantly higher than fed the fecundity of pure water.That is to say,high nutrients can conduce to ovaries of female moths and increase the fecundity.From the perspective of average life of female and male,the female moths fed 10% sugar water has the longest average life which is up to(11.50±0.43)day,and the male moths fed 10% honey water has the longest average life.Moreover the longevity of female moths was longer than that of male moths by feeding the same nutrient source.By using solvent-extraction process,the antennal potential of crude extracts of sex pheromone of Plecoptera oculata Moore indicate that crude extracts contains active constituent of sex pheromone making electrophysiological response of the male moth antenna.Based on GC-EAD analysis,one kind of chemical substances can cause Plecoptera oculata Moore's antennae response,further by GC-MS analysis,crude extracts contain 53 peaks,including E8,E10-12: OH.This compound is the same as the standard E8,E10-12:OH,they have the same retention time and characteristic fragmentions,so identified a sex pheromone suspected active substance is E8,E10-12:O H.The result of measurement of 3-days age male Plecoptera oculata Moore's EAG response to sex pheromone samples with different dilution times showing that EAG response of male and concentration of sex pheromone are linear positive correlated within a certain range.In view of the above,It is speculated that the active component of sex pheromone is E8,E10-12:OH.
