New Curriculum pays attention to the student's development and emphasizes the creativity and practice ability, It also advocates the studying methods of in voluntariness, Cooperation and inquiry. Inquiry learning is a key point of achieving the goal of the new curriculum.During a long period of time, teachers always adopt the traditional way to teach the subject Flowers and plants study in the polytechnic school. They place great emphasis on the mechanical recitation of the specialized knowledge. As a result, the students own some theoretical. Knowledge, but they lack the practical abilities. This paper draws lessons from the curricular reform of elementary education, the new curricular program, the new curricular standard and textbook, advocates inquiry learning in the subject Flowers and plants study. The paper analyzes the present teaching situation of this subject in the polytechnic school, points out the necessity of the research study, then suggests the research strategies and discusses the result of the experimental research. The result shows that if the research study is adopted on the subject, it will improve the teaching quality and cultivate the students' creativity and the wishes of study for life.
