1,3-dichloropropene which was a new fumigant nematicide was in place of the methyl bromide. The effect of 1,3-dichloropropene on control of tomato and ginger root-knot disease caused by Meloidogyne incognita was studied in the pot trial and in the field trial. The growth of tomato and ginger were also studied. It also studied the effect of 1,3-dichloropropene on soil microbes activities by the population of the soil microbes, soil respiration,soilhydrolas- e,soil oxidoreductase.1. In the pot and field trial, the results showed that 1,3-dichloropropene could effectively control tomato root-knot disease. When the nematode infested soil added with 1,3-dichloropropene(180L/hm~2,120L/hm~2,80L/hm~2), the root-knot index was significantly reduced. There was a significant correlation between application rate and control effect. The control effect advanced along with the concentrations of the 1,3-dichloropropene.When tomatoes were transplanted 45d,the average control effectiveness of three concentrations were 91.11%,80.06%and 73.33%. The control effectiveness of contrast nematicide(400kg/hm~2) dazomet was 66.67%.In the field trial, the average control effectiveness were 83.00%,81.75%,68.10%. The control effectiveness of contrast nematicide(400kg/hm~2) dazomet was 65.77%.2.After fumigated with 1,3-dichloropropene(180L/hm~2,120L/hm~2,80L/hm~2) and dazomet(400kg/hm~2),the plant height and stem diameter were higher than ck.It showed that 1,3-dichloropropene can accelerate the growth. There was no disciplinary otherness the plant height. There was no evident otherness in stem diameter. The was no disadvantage on growth of tomato.3. The results of the field trial revealed the similar results to that of pot experiments.Soil application of 1,3-dichloropropene (180L/hm~2,120L/hm~2, 80L/hm~2) gave higher control effect on tomato root-knot disease than dazomet (400kg/hm~2).The number of juveniles in soil were reduced significantly. The average control effectiveness on juveniles was 81.65%,79.36%and 80.34%...
