| American ginseng (Panax quinquefolium L.) is a Araliaceae and Panax perennial herb. It is cultivated extensively in Jilin, Liaoning, Beijing, Shaanxi, Shandong and other places in China. P. quinquefolium is known as one of the precious herbs in China and contains many active components such as saponins, saccharides, amino-acid, mineral element, sterol, fatty acid and volatile constituent. It is often used as a tonic to replenish vital energy, build up resistance against various disorders and recovery after illness. P. quinquefolium, as a well-known traditional medicinal herb in China, has high nutritional, healthy value and a wide developing market potency. In this paper, the types of germplasm variation of P. quinquefolium from Liuba, Shaanxi Province were classified and evaluated, and the fine properties were selected. At the same time, various active ingredients of P. quinquefolium were determined by the Gas Chromatography- Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and other methods. In addition, the fingerprints of saponins in P. quinquefolium were obtained by HPLC to analyze the samples of different habitats and different batches. We also have determined the contents of the main active components in P. quinquefolium from Liuba, Shaanxi Province at different collecting time, using different parts and different primary processing methods by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). This work established a general quality control standard of P. quinquefolium. The main results of the experiment are as follows:1. The experiment investigated resources of P. quinquefolium in Liuba, Shaanxi Province. The good biological characters of broad leaves, flat caudexes were determined by comparing the individual yield and active compound contents of different varieties.2. The essential oil and fat-soluble components were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. 38 essential oil components were identified. Many of them were alkane, terpene and fatty group compounds. The fat-soluble components mainly include Hexadecane acid, ethyl ester; (Z)-9-Octadecenoic acid, ethyl ester; 9,12,15-Octadecatrienoic acid, ethyl ester; 9,12-Octadecadienoic acid, ethyl ester; 2-methyl-Undecanoic acid, methyl ester. We identified 8 fat-soluble components in herbs, 6 in stem and 10 in leaves, and there are some difference among them.3. The HPLC methods of determination the contents of ginsenoside Rg1, Re and... |
