As the development of forestry information and the implement of the forestry ecological engineering, the old file management model can not satisfy their demands. It's emergent to build a new uniform management platform, use this platform to provide layout, management, monitoring, decision making, assessment and analysis for the forestry ecological engineering. This paper based on much of literatures. summarized the development of MIS:Data Processing System—Database Management Information System—GIS—Decision Support System—Expert System.Analysed the present status of MIS in forestry. Researched the development and application of MIS in forestry ecological engineering. This paper analyzed the development cause and application in forestry of MIS, compared the develop experience of forestry management information system, analyzed develop technologies and the application status of forestry ecological engineering management information System.and combined the function of the GIS secondary develop platform. Through the requirement analyzing, put forward the idea of based GIS engine to construct the forestry ecological engineering management information system. This paper analyzed and designed the forestry ecological engineering management information system. Use the VB6.0 made the secondary develop based the GIS Engine, realized the system's maplayer management module. This system is expansibility, compatibility, and the map layer management module can be replanted. The Forestry Ecological Engineering is a huge and long-term project, this designing just limited the technology layer of this system, there exists many defect, we will made it more perfect at the upgrade process in the future.
