As a category of insect pathogenic fungus with a special formation, Cordyceps is one of the vitap resources of medicinal fungi, among them the rare traditional Chinese herb Cordyceps sinensis has long been famous.Unfortunately, the natural resource is in danger of drying up because of careless exploiting. In the process of exploration on C. sinensis'substitutes, We found a kind of cordyceps that infects the clanis bclineata walker in Mount Mengshan area,Shandong Province. It was identified by prof.Guo Yinglan in Microbiology Research Institute, China Science Academy, as C. Kyushuensis Kob. And its imperfect phase is Verficillium. Kyushuensis. It is the only species of cordyceps which grows on the larvae of clanis belineata walker ever reported in China. After years work, experimental success on the culturing C.kyushuensis Kob. Has laid a foundation of producing it in large scale. Therefore, it is necessary to make a further research on its medicinal potential and function mechanism.which may lead to the discovery and development of a new medical resource, herbal medicine and related drugs.Taking C. Kyushuensis Kob. Found from Mengshan which belongs to the uncovered area at home and abroad so far as research material, applying theapproaches and techniques of pharmaceutical Chemistry, analytical chemistry, pharmacology, cell biology and molecular Biology comprehensively, the author aims at determining the standard fingerprint spectrums of C.Kyushuensis Kob., based on the chemical components research, so as to study its bioactivities and medical potential. The main researches and results are as following:(1) The contents of moisture, ash, protein, totol sugar, crude fat, crude fibre in C.Kyushuensis Kob.are mensurated.
