Sugarcane and sugar product is one of the economic mainstays in Guangxi. Research on biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) in sugarcane has increased significantly because of its potential importance to the economy and the environment. BNF in sugarcane has been studied systematically in Brazil to date, more than a hundred of endophytic nitrogen-fixing bacteria has been isolated, but not been classified yet. Different varieties from different areas have different capacity of nitrogen fixation, so the same of endophytic nitrogen-fixing bacteria. In this experiment, 106 sugarcane varieties from Guangxi Sugarcane Research Institute were selected as the materials, and 22 strains of endophytic bacteria were isolated from 12 of them, which showed high capacity of reducing C2H2 to C2H4. Morphological and physiological characters, utilization of sole carbon source, growth factors and parts of the 16S rRNA gene sequences were studied. The results showed as follows.1. All the isolates were able to grow at both liquid and solid culture media. The clone shape was circular or elliptical, their diameter differ...
