Water retention agent is a kind of man-made high-hygroscopicity resin, which has super absorbent and maintaining capacity of water. In order to study the effects of the water retention agent made in guangxi university on water content in soil, agronomic charactoristics, physiological index, yield as well as the quality of sugarcane, pot and sht experiments were carried out. In the experiments, 0 kg/666.7m~2(A/CK), 5kg/666.7m~2(B), 10kg/666.7m~2(C), 15 kg/666.7m~2(D) of the water retention agent were applied to the sugarcane field respectively. The results were as follows:1. Compared to the control, under dry condition, each treatment could maintain water content in soil for a long time. They could increase water potential but postpone degradation of chlorophyll in leaves, enhance photosynthesis efficiency. So they could promot the seedlings quality, enhance the growth rate of stems per ten days. The effects became more obvious when the application concentration of the water retention agent increased.2, Each treatments could improve sugarcane's drought-resistance ability under drought stress, water retention agent could alleviate the hurts to sugarcane from drought. They could reduce Meanwhile the content of MDA, Proline in leaves. Besides, they could reduce the...
