To investigate the infection of HIV/AIDS&STD and the level of unsafe sexual behavior of construction workers and its influence factors in Huangpu Area, to explore the appliance of different types of health education measures among construction workers, to study its intervention effect and to supply the evidence of focused health education policy. A face-to-face questionnaire survey was conducted among construction workers in6construction sites by random sampling, different types of health education measures was applied under construction sites of different intervention levels (The higher the intervention level was, the more multiform and professionalized intervention measures were applied.). After6month a follow-up was conducted to analyze the variation of KAP status among construction workers. Results show that among594workers the rate of having unsafe sexual behaviors was30.5%, the rate of premarital sex was26.8%, the rate of extramarital sex was10.2%, the rate of having commercial sex was5.7%and the rate of having multiple sexual partners was6.7%. Analyzed by Binary Logistic Regression, those who had higher education, those whose age of first sex life was younger, those who had higher salary, those who had higher knowledge score and the unmarried, the divorced, and the widowed were more likely to have unsafe sexual behaviors. The prevalence of syphilis was1515.2/10, the prevalence of gonorrhea was4377.1/106, and the prevalence of Chlamydia Trachomatis was4377.1/106. To partnership analysis the352follow-up workers; Among construction workers with some pre-intervention knowledge, the variation of HIV-related knowledge showed no statistical difference; Among workers with little pre-intervention knowledge, the variation showed statistical difference in construction sites with all three intervention levels(P≤0.001); Before intervention the awareness rate of HIV-related knowledge is low as62.2%, and with no statistical difference among different intervention levels. After intervention the rates raise and showed statistical differences (F=20.3, P<0.001), the awareness rates among construction sites with high intervention level are the highest as73.6%; Before intervention most construction workers hold a "sympathetic" view toward HIV carriers, but also most see them as "afraid" and "disgusting" with no statistical difference among different intervention levels. After intervention the proportion hold "sympathetic" view raises and the proportion hold "afraid" and "disgusting" view decrease, also showed statistical differences (acceptance rate:"sympathetic":x2=17.7, P<0.05;"afraid":x2=16.8, P<0.05;"disgusting": x2=16.2, P<0.05), the views among construction sites with high and medium intervention level have more transformation; The proportion using condom every time having sex does not change much before and after the intervention. According to that, the rate of unsafe sexual behavior was high and the self-protective and risk consciousness was low, so effective intervention should be carried out urgently. It’s feasible and effective to influence knowledge and attitude of construction workers by using multiple health education measures. We should apply strongly focused intervention, and intervene repeatedly to improve the HIV-related knowledge as well as attitude and perception, and to protect the health of construction workers.
