Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD)is one of the most general clinical motility disorder of digestive diseases.GERD,which develops slowly, always had a longer course. Although there is no sufficient evidence to prove that it’s associated with esophageal cancer. However, the occurrence of GERD often prompts esophagus and cardiac’s dysfunction. Long-term paying no attention to it, the risk of organic diseases happening will be increased. Because of that the physiological function of the esophagus is damaged, and the autoimmune regulator system will be disordered. Then variety of pathological changes, resulting in serious diseases, will take place. As a result, the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease can’t be neglected. So the treatment of GERD with Chinese medicine shows a certain advantage, and the experience from old predecessors of traditional Chinese medicine is more precious. In this study, new methods of treating GERD with Chinese Traditional Medicine could be found through the data mining of treating gastroesophageal reflux disease from Professor Zhao Ronglai, who is one of the state-level old predecessors of traditional Chinese medicine. The study came to the conclusion that, the total pathogenesis of gastroesophageal reflux disease was that diaphragm was full of gas. And the disease location was mainly in the esophagus, followed by the spleen, stomach, liver. The syndrome differentiation was air lifting arrhythmia. So the focus of treatment was raising Spleen Qi and stretching the chest Yang. Then the Qi of esophagus and diaphragm were smooth. The air lifting would be back to normal. Professor Zhao Ronglai treating gastroesophageal reflux disease is based on "Cangzhi" prescription. This study evalulated the clinical cyrative effect of treating GERD with "Cangzhi" prescription through a further clinical trials, which is stochastic and compared. Objective:This subject is to investigate the efficacy of Cangzhi Treating GERD, and explore the objectivity of the experience prescription, which is from the old TCM, at the treatment of GERD.Methods:In this study, patients who were diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux came from gastroenterology clinic and ward. First of all, we need to confirm the diagnosis through endoscopy,24-hour pH monitoring, GerdQ questionnaires and classification of gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms quantization table. Then those patients were divided into two groups which were Chinese medicine treatment group and the comparison group. And each group had 30 patients. The patients from Chinese medicine group were treated with Cangzhi. On the other hand, the comparison group were treated with omeprazole. The two groups all had a course of six weeks.Every two weeks we had an observation phase through taking the questionnaire. Respectively, before treatment,2 weeks treatment,4 weeks treatment,6 weeks treatment were the time to complete the questionnaire. Through every symptom score,we could understand the patient’s changes and evaluate the therapeutic effect.Results:(1)Total effective rate:The total effective rate of treatment group is 93.33%. And the total effective rate of comparison group is 72.41%.There were significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).(2) Comparing in the symptom total score:The two groups had significant difference apart from the two-weeks’ treatment in TCM symptoms.Treatment group before treatment compared with, respectively, two weeks of treatment, four weeks, six weeks, and we can get the result P<0.05, which stand for significant difference. The total score decreased compared with before treatment, indicating that treatment group could ameliorate symptoms obviously. The comparison group was the same conclusion.(3)Comparing in individual symptom scores:After two weeks of treatment, most symptoms in treatment group were improved except the pain in the chest and back, difficulty swallowing, the upper central abdomen pain and nausea.Howbeit, some symptoms, such as heartburn, acid reflux, dysphagia, regurgitation, antacids in comparison group were improved. The other symptoms had little difference between before-treatment and after-treatment.After four weeks of treatment, most symptoms in treatment group were improved except the difficulty swallowing and the upper central abdomen pain. Most of the symptoms in comparison group were improved as well except the mainly other symptoms, pain in chest and back, the minor other symptoms and nausea. Six weeks after treatment, the treatment group had improved each single symptom, while comparison group had no significant role in addition to other associated symptoms and nausea. The result of the two groups comparing with each other is that they had significant differences except the difficulty in swallowing and the pain in chest and back. This result suggests that the treatment group and the comparison group had a similar onset-time in the short term. But the therapeutic advantages of Chinese medicine were more salient in pace with the duration of treatment. It is more comprehensive in treating gastroesophageal reflux disease. Conclusion:Treating GERD with Cangzhi has perfect clinical efficacy. It can ease patient’s most symptoms such as acid reflux, heartburn, belching, pharynx tight, difficulty in swallowing, chest and back pain.
