"Look into the pathogenesis, and pay attention to the movement of qi.". As early as the time of Huangdi Neijing, sages already emphasized the importance of examing pathogenesis in the diagnosis and treatment. Wang bing in Tang Dynasty explaned the term of pathogenesis,he said"Pathogenesis means the key of diseases. When we work on the key of diseases, little efforts will result in huge changes."He pointed out if doctors want to put in little efforts to have great results, then doctors need to grasp the key of diseases accurately.Zang and Fu are the center of human body activity, dysfunction of Zang and Fu will cause various pathological changes which means the pathogenesis of Zang and Fu. Zang and Fu pathogenesis explains the interrelationship between syndrome and diseases of Zang and Fu. There are various analyses by doctors in different dynasties, and each has its distinctive development. However, it has been long since the theory of Zang and Fu pathogenesis is produced, and doctors in each dynasty had also made rich supplement gradually, so significant changes has been witnessed between the beginning of the theory and the modern one. Therefore, organizing the the materials on the development of the theory, and sum up the cause of its development has certain practical significance. In this paper, based on 973 subject-"the inner rules of origin, formation and development of traditional Chinese medicine theory research", mainly compare the similarities and differences between Neijing and the modern theory of zang-fu organs, sort out the process of evolution, summarizes its evolution reason, to put the groundwork for the theory of viscera in research in the future. The first part of this thesis set dynasties as the nodes, and physicians who have made outstanding contributions as the foundations, the development of the theory of Zang Fu pathogenesis was summed up through the macro perspective.Huangdi’s canon of internal medicine and of Classical of Nan in Qi and Han dynasty laid the foundation of Zang-Fu pathogenesis. this is the foundation period; General Treatise on the Cause and Symptoms of Diseases and valuable prescriptions on emergencies in Sui and Tang dynasty have made the theory of Zang-Fu pathogenesis systematically, this was a period which studied the theory in a systematic way.Liu Wansu of Jing dynasty had combined five elements and six qi with the theory of Zang-Fu pathogenesis, which studied the theory thoroughly, followed by doctor Zhang Yuansu, Li dongheng and Zhu Danxi who incessantly developed the theory, advocating the hot theory, theory of spleen and stomach, nourishing Yin and desending fire, phlegm stagnation, which then formed different medical schools, the theory of Zang-Fu pathogenesis had entered the phase of subject research. During the Ming and qing dynasties, depth study of spleen-kidney disease pathogenesis had been made on the basis of study in Song,Jing and Yuan dynasty. This period focused on the theory of "true Yin and true Yang theory",specialists also expounded the pathogenic mechanism of warm evil, thus the theory of Zang-Fu pathogenesis had almost been perfect. The second part summarized the guiding ideology, thinking mode and characteristics of the theory of Zang-Fu pathogenesis.the guiding ideology of Zang-Fu pathogenesis in Huangdi’s canon of internal medicine is the overall concept of man and universe coherent; Its thinking mode mainly embodies analogism, the ideas of onset of diseases resulting from fight between pathogenic factors and right qi,the ideas of pathogenesis of dysfunction of correspondence and the ideas of disease progressing in dynamic ways. The characteristic of Zang-Fu pathogenesis theory is focused on the five Zang and their function, classified by state of defficiency and excess and the five qi embodies wind, coldness, dampness, dryness and hotness. The third part is the core content of the thesis which described the Zang-Fu pathogenesis in modern text books and theory development.modern.Firstly, the framework of Zang-Fu pathogenesis was sort out,and briefly compared with the Zang-Fu pathogenesis in Huangdi’s canon of internal medicine.Secondly,Zang-Fu pathogenesis in modern text books waschosen as the foundation, and all the content was carefully surveyed on the development of its concept from the time in Huangdi’s canon of internal medicine until now.the model of its development and evolution was summed up mainly in six patterns:lineage, deduction, decomposition, fusion, extinction, insert, and classified Zang-Fu pathogenesis in modern text books by the evolution models. The fourth part analyzed the reason for evolution of Zang-Fu pathogenesis. The stability of the overall concept as TCM thinking mode is the precondition of Zang-fu pathogenesis; Huangdi neijing as the theory source is the foundation of the development and evolution, physicians’s experience gained over clinical practice was the foundamental reason. Application of the theory of traditional philosophy promoted the revolution of changes in theory of Zang-Fu pathogenesis.the Inherited knowledge, governments’support also played a role in the development.
