Constipation is gastrointestinal functional disorder caused by many factors, and its main clinical manifestation is defecation arduous, defecation frequency decrease, defecation uncomfortable, stool dry, etc. Constipation has become one of the important factors that affect the quality of modern life, bringing the great physical and mental injuries to patients. In addition that anal fissure, endocrine disorders and body function is impaired, it is more seriously interfere with the normal life of the patient. In recent years, the incidence of constipation is gradually grow, especially the elderly. Curative effect of drugs and surgical treatment is not ideal in modern medicine, but Chinese medicine treatment is becoming the dominant trend and will attractive more and more people’s attention.In this paper, literature review part expounds constipation from two angles of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine respectively, by refering to the existing literature on this topic over the last decade. In Western medicine aspect, this paper expounds the definition of slow transmissive constipation, epidemiological characteristics, etiology and pathogenesis, diagnostic criteria and the treatment progress. However, in traditional Chinese medicine aspect, this paper discusses that the ancient medical scientists have knowledged of constipation, and dialectical thinking and characteristic treatment of modern traditional Chinese medicine for constipation. Finally, the source and clinical application of Wendan Decoction are simply described. On this basis, the paper lead to unique insights and individualized treatment of the professor Zhao Baoming in the treatment of slow transmissive constipation. Prof Zhao thinks that type of stagnation of phlegm-damp is main syndrome-type of STC and the deficiency weakness of spleen-Qi and tagnation of phlegm-damp are thought main pathogenesis.Objective:Observing the clinical curative effect of Wendan Purge Decoction on STC and discussing its function mechanism preliminarily. Comparing Wendan Purge Decoction with Dupbalac treatment, the author give objective evaluation of treatment, the improvement of syndromes and security of Wendan Purge Decoction on STC. According to the above, this paper clarify the development progress of the etiology and pathogenesis about constipation and carry out new ways of treatmenting STC.Methods:The 62 patients meeting standard are randomly divided into two groups according to random number table method. On the basis of general treatment, treatment group 32 cases take Wendan Purge Decoction, basic prescription is below:Rhizoma Pinellinae Praeparata 10 g, Ling Yun 30 g, white atractylodes rhizome 40 g, Dangshen 10 g, Paeonia lactiflora Pall 30 g, Tangerine 6 g, Zhishi 10 g, Mangnolia officinalis 15 g, Gualou 30 g, fructus ligustri lucidi 40 g, Zhi Gancao 6 g. Control group 30 cases take Dupbalac. After the treatment of 4 weeks, the author observes the clinical curative effect, TCM symptoms and colon transfer function.Results:Clinical study show that the treatment group and control group can improve primary symptom of Constipation (defecation arduous, defecation frequency decrease, defecation uncomfortable, etc.). The treatment group is better than the control group on the improvement of secondary symptom, the curative effect exists significant difference (P< 0.05). Based on the analysis of curative effect, the two groups exist significant differences (P< 0.05), treatment group is better than that of control group, total effective rate of treatment group was 93.3%, the control group was 80.0%.Conclusion:Wendan Purge Decoction can reduce phlegm and remove dampness, smooth qi and bowel.while improving E.conduction function, it can make patients’ appetite, improve sleep and mental state markedly for helping to relief constipation. Therefore, the treatment is worth popularizing used clinically in the treatment of constipation.
