Observation On Curative Effect Of Abdominal Acupuncture In Treating Knee Osteoarthritis Of Deficiency Type

Aim:In this research,we apply abdominal acupuncture for weak-cold type of knee osteoarthritis,and observe the clinical effects. We objectively evaluate pain, walking di stance, walking up the stairs, walking down the stairs, and bending knees of the knee osteoarthritis patients.Method:All of the 56 patients came from the acupuncture department of DongZhiMen hospital. Our basic acupuncture formula is:zhong-wan. guan-yuan,hua-rou-men, wai-ling,qi-pang,xia-feng-shi-dian,da-heng. Add xia-feng-shi-nei-dian for pain at the inner side of knee;add qi-xue for long time illness; add shui-fen for joint swollen; and add qi-wai for bone hyperplasia. We adopt NRS-10 and knee osteoarthritis symptom rating scale to evaluate patients before and after treatment.Result:It shows significant statistical significance(P<0.001)for NRS-10 before and after treatment. It also shows significant statistical significance (P< 0.001) for knee osteoarthritis symptom rating scale before and after treatment.It shows statistical significance(P<0.01) for walking up the stair before and after treatment. There is statistically significant(P< 0.05) for walking up the stair and bending knees. And there is no statistical significant change(P>0.05)for walking distance,and also for walking down the stair.Conclusion:Abdominal acupuncture is effective for weak-cold type of knee osteoarthritis,especially for knee pain,and total symptom. It is better for walking up the stair than walking down the stair. It could help bending knees. But little effect for walking distance. Abdominal acupuncture could adjust the function of zang-fu, and the effect is obvious.It can greatly help patients.
