Study On The Expression Rules Of Terminology Of Clinical Symptoms In Traditional Chinese Medicine

Objective:To build the Symptom elements of Chinese Medicine (CM) database, and pick up the elements of CM Symptom. The study aims to construct a information expression system of CM Symptom which based on data elements and meta-relationships, exploring the rules of symptom elements with data mining. Research on the methods and rules the elements of CM Symptom to CM Symptom knowledge, the scalability of its expression, provide terminology standards for the underlying database of related computer supporting platform.Methods:According to the current authoritative file of CM Symptom, build the Symptom of CM database. Based on it, the study try to analysis these complex CM Symptom terminology with the concept of data element, exploring the rules of its information expression, to distinguish those CM Symptoms which are not standardized expressed in medical records. Through the method of information construction and deconstruction,such as symbol system and clinical information expression rules, the study classified CM Symptoms, considering its grammatical structure, clinical characteristics and component parts of words. Then pick up the elements of CM Symptom and code them.Results:The study claims main grammatical structure of CM Symptoms are the following four kinds of grammatical forms, The Subject Predicate structure, Verb Object structure, Parallel structure, Partial structure. The four clinical characteristics are Site characteristics, Functional characteristics, Nature characteristics, Disease variables. In "Chinese Terms in TCM and Pharmacy", the study selected the CM Symptom of tongue and pulse, pain to pick up the elements. The study draw57items of CM Symptom elements of tongue,32items of CM Symptom elements of pulse,53items of CM Symptom elements of pain.Conclusion:The information expression rules of CM Symptoms and its code can be used in analysis and deduction in CM Symptoms’relationship. The study is helpful to knowledge discovery in medical records, so it has an important academic value. The study provides the underlying support for data mining research, also for the database construction of CM Symptom. The research on information expression of CM Symptoms is a huge and complex system. This study only select some CM Symptom terms from "Chinese Terms in TCM and Pharmacy", it is superficial and do not meet the experimental results in program design. We hope to start on more in-depth research in this field. The experimental methods used in this study and the conclusion is exploratory, both need further proof.
