Quantitative study on growth characters including dry matter production and allocation is very significance in understanding of variety traits and precision cultural management. In this research, Jingyan Mini-2 cucumber and Ruiguang-2 cucumber were selected as experiment material, and 4 times of field experiment were carried out in greenhouse in Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry sciences. GDD is used in this article as Metro-unit to quantitatively analyze the development, morphogenesis, dry matter allocation and yielding traits. The dry matter production of cucumber leaves of different position, growth period and expansion stage was investigated. Finally integrate analysis was made to test the microclimate situations like light and temperature on dry matter production, allocation and yield formation on the basis of data from different rotation patterns. The results are as follows:Using GDD as metro-unit, statistical analysis of the GDD that Mini cucumber and normal cucumber needed to finish each growth stage was made. The result shows that, Mini cucumber has a shorter vegetative growth stage and early harvest period. It is good for increasing output.The trends of plant height growth, leaf area expansion, leaf number incensement were in accordance with logistic curve. There's no significant difference between different varieties in leafing rate. Plant height growth is affected by temperature, for example, low temperature inhibits plant height increase especially inhibits the height increase of Mini cucumber. The temperature also affects leaf expansion rate while high temperature has a great inhibition effect on leaf expansion of Ruiguang. To Mini cucumber, the maximum single leaf area is 258±37 cm~2 and could be observed at 209±11℃·d.Photosynthetic characteristics of cucumber leaf are affected by root development and organ competition. In different growth stage, the light utilization rate of Mini cucumber varies as flowering stage> fruit stage> seedling stage. As to Ruiguang, the order changes to fruit stage> flowering stage> seedling stage. Photosynthetic ability of cucumber leaves at different positions are affected by developing process, of which the upper leaf> middle leaf> lower leaf. The development rate of chloroplast follows leaf expansion rate. Low temperature and law light intensity shows greater effects on leaf expansion and chloroplast development. High temperature and strong light has a greater effect on photosynthetic ability of Ruiguang than Mini.As affected by fruit-setting rate, organs of Mini cucumber have greater sink strength than Ruiguang. As fruit stage continues, the fruit of Mini cucumber becomes the strongest dry matter competitor. Because of earlier fruit stage, higher fruit setting rate and greater sink strength of fruits, Mini cucumber has higher yield than normal cucumber.
