With the influence on the environment by human activities, population and resources and environment problem becomes increasingly prominent, resulting to concerning for land-cover changes. Land-cover Change research is an important part of Global Change Research. It not only requires large-scale macroscopical studies, but also requires small and medium-scale regional studies. Zhuzhou City is one of the fastest growing economic regions in Hunan Province. Land-cover changed quickly and contradiction of land-use was prominently. This paper takes Zhuzhou City as research region to traverse land-cover change in the past 15 years by remote sensing and related technologies. On this basis, predict the land-cover change trend. The main research contents as follow:(1) Dynamic monitoring land-cover with remote sensing. Through processing the CBERS data and TM data in Zhuzhou City, dynamic monitoring the land-cover change with GIS and gain conclusions as follows:â‘ CCD sensors of CBERS series satellites provide five bands data which from visible band to near-infrared band and band parameters are similar to TM. Spatial resolution is 19.5 m and similar to SPOT. It is a good remote sensing source of information for regional land-cover change research. This study is just about an application of CBERS data on land-cover change research.â‘¡Choose 3(R) 4(G) 1(B) band combination and make pseudo-color images base on the amount of information and the principle of distinction. Performing this scheme could make the satellite images have heavy amount of information and rich colors and natural colors, then make for remote sensing interpretation.â‘¢Classify the satellite images which imaging in 1993 and 1999 and 2003 and 2007 four different times with supervised classification methods. Take satellite image in 2003 for example, compare classification accuracy. Classification accuracy of Maximum Likelihood method is 85.87%, higher than the minimum distance method of 5%.â‘£From 1993 to 2007, the overall trend and the basic characteristics of land-cover change is:Urban settlements area was rapid increase, woodland and water area ware reduce first but increase afterwards, agricultural land and other land area were increase first but reduce afterwards, ecological environment had been further improved and land-use had being reasonable and sustainable. (2) Research land-cover dynamic Change. Combining GIS and mathematical model, research land-cover dynamic Change by transition matrix of land-cover and dynamic degree of land-cover and land-cover relative rate of change. The results showed that:â‘ From 1993 to 2007, all land-cover types had different levels of inter-transfer and mainly express that agricultural land changed to forest and urban settlements, other land changed to woodland.â‘¡From 1999 to 2007, dynamic degree of land-cover is significantly greater than that from 1993 to 1999 and showed that the speed of land-cover change is accelerated markedly after 1999. Because of man-made factors, various land-use policies are the most important driving force for land-cover change.â‘¢From 1993 to 2007, All kinds of land-cover types distribute in four districts of Zhuzhou City, but there are clear regional differences of land-cover change and such differences reflect from quantitative analysis land-cover relative rate of change.(3) Forecast land-cover change in Zhuzhou City. Forecast land-cover change in coming 70 years in Zhuzhou City by Markov model and the forecast results are reasonable and the overall trend of land-cover change is:â‘ Urban settlement area will increase.â‘¡Woodland area will increase first but decrease afterwards.â‘¢Agricultural land and water and other land area will decrease.â‘£The change of all kinds of land-cover types will be gradually slightly. On this basis, make countermeasures and approaches of the land rational utilization in Zhuzhou City. It not only provides a case study for large-scale land-cover change, but also provides a scientific basis for the sustainable land-use in Zhuzhou City.
