An activitor, which was isolated and purified from the hypha of magnaporthe grisea by boiling water bath, high speed centrifugation, ammonium sulfate precipitation and anion exchange chromatography, etc., was finded as a single band corresponding to molecular weight of approximately 36 kD on SDS-PAGE with silver staining. Isoelectric determination of the activator protein is the acid protein.Magnaporthe grisea activitor proteins play a prominent role in plants growth. It can increase rice seed germination rate, and the 2.5μg/ml activator protein is the most effective one. The activator protein can promote the growth of rice seedlings, and the 5μg/ml activator protein is more effective than the activator protein of other concentrations. The quantity of chlorophyll in plant affect the photosynthesis directly.Experiments have shown that the amount chlorophyll-a and chlorophyll-b in rice seedlings which have sprayed by the activitor protein is much larger than that without activitor protein.And it proved that imagnaporthe grisea activitor protein can promote the photosynthesis by enhancing chlorophyll amount in plant.Magnaporthe grisea activator protein can also induce plant resistance, especially the drought and cold resistance of rice. The drought and cold resistance coefficient, leaf fight decline degrees and survival rate relative comparison of the rice seedlings which have processed with activator protein are higher than the one without processed in different degrees. The 10μg/ml activator protein can increase the plant height most effectively. And the resistant effect to rice blast bacterium on tomato induced by the 10μg/mL activator protein can reach 76.40%-84.49% on 8,15,22 d. The activity of Phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL) Peroxides (POD) and polypheol oxidase (PPO) were increased effectively after inducement. It indicate that the enhancement of activity of the enzyme correlated with defense is one of the main physiological mechanisms of magnaporthe grisea activator protein inducing disease resistance.
