Animal feed is the basic way of nutrition intake. It is one of the key factors to ensure normal growth and production of animal performance into full play. In recent years, China's rapid dairy farm development embarked on the track. Feed intake gives full play to one of the constraints to the growth and lactation performance of dairy cows. Detecting cow's feed intake is an important prerequisite for dairy production to improve the efficiency of feed utilization. It has important significance for dairy farm. Only it accurately detected the intake of dairy cows that dairy diet can be provided reasonably. Not only it meets the nutritional needs of cows, and also avoids waste to achieve good production efficiency and economic benefits.This topic is the sub-topic of 863 "digital management of dairy farms Key Technology" project (2006AA10Z252). Fully understanding the basis of previous studies, the cow's feed intake characteristics are analyzed by using advanced sensor technology and virtual instrument technology which are based on LabWindows / CVI has developed automatic detection system of dairy intake. Contents are as follows:Through observing and studying feeding behavior of dairy cows, at cows chewing temporal fossa position, there were obvious visible agitation conditions and agitation cows chewing frequency and frequency. When Cows stop chewing swallowing, the location of the vibration of temporal fossa stops. By the location of the temporal fossa cows'detection and analysis, the number of cows' swallowing is got. In addition, according to preliminary tests, food group quality of adult cows'every bite swallow is basically the same. According to the number of dairy and food groups, the quality of the feed intake of dairy cows can be obtained, which is the theoretical basis of the system.The issues, requirements, and characteristics of a detection system are comprehensively analyzed in the task. The overall program and circuit is designed, and hardware selection is made. HK-2000 series of sensors is used for detecting the location of the temporal fossa with ATmega32 microcontroller to control the detection system. The signal processing and data transmission system's device selection and circuit design have been done.Based on LabWindows / CVI software, parts of the host computer system's design and development have been tested. It mainly includes three parts: data acquisition and processing section, part of the user interface, the database part. Each part of the design is modular, subroutine of the design ideas. Based on the operating system of LabWindows / CVI, it is easy to use. The function button of intuitive image is easy to operate.In summary, based on virtual instrument detection system, it implements feed intake of individual cows on feed intake test, and it can do data storage, query and output printing, and make user friendly, easy to use, suitable for small and medium scale dairy farms application.
