At present,indoor formaldehyde pollution is serious,threatening people's health,people want to solve it urgently.The experiments using self-made sealed chamber and Acetylacetone spectrophotometric method,test 7 species of common indoor foliage plants'ability of cleaning formaldehyde.The primary conclusions are:1.The plants have good ability of cleaning formaldehyde.The 7 species of foliage plants have different ability of cleaning formaldehyde,in 12h the cleaning percentage are as follows:Spathiphyllum kochii(73.81%)>Calathea makoyana (73.47%)>Scindapsus aureus(72.22%)>Sansevieria trifasciata(69.86%)>Chlorophytum comosum(68.37%)>Hedera helix(66.93%)>Chamaedorea elegans(66.74%).The ability of the unit of leave-area cleaning formaldehyde in 12h are different,we can find that:Hedera helix(1.5752mg·m-2)>Sansevieria trifasciata(1.1900mg·m-2)>Spathiphyllum kochii(1.0356mg·m-2)>Scindapsus aureus(1.0324mg·m-2)>Chlorophytum comosum(0.8512mg·m-2)>Chamaedorea elegans (0.8271mg·m-2)>Calathea makoyana(0.7325mg·m-2).0h-12h,the plants' speed rate of cleaning formaldehyde are different,while the time increasing the speed rate decreasing.The leaves and the potted soil also have the function of cleaning formaldehyde,but the leaves play the major role.2.The plants have good effects of resistance of formaldehyde.Considering the change of the chlorophyll contents,the MDA contents and the electrionic conductivity,the 7 plants' effects of resistance of formaldehyde are as follows:Spathiphyllum kochii>Calathea makoyana>Scindapsus aureus>Chamaedorea elegans>Sansevieria trifasciata>Chlorophytum comosum>Hedera helix.Considering the ability of cleaning formaldehyde and resistance of formaldehyde,in the 7 species of plants Spathiphyllum kochii is the best choice for people to clean indoor formaldehyde.3.The plants have remarkable effects of cleaning formaldehyde in practical environment.Within a month,the formaldehyde contents decrease from 1.4130 mg·m-3to 0.3467 mg·m-3in specimen room,the plants' percentage of cleaning formaldehyde is 75.46%. And they improve the temperature and humidity of the specimen room. 4.The microorganisms play a role in the process of cleaning formaldehyde.After domesticated by formaldehyde,the numbers and species of microorganisms in the potted soil of Spathiphyllum kochii remarkably change.The microorganisms' percentage of cleaning formaldehyde is 98.81% in liquid medium.Through separation and purification getting two species of dominant microorganisms,they are Kingella denitrificans and Tatumella ptyseos.Their percentage of cleaning formaldehyde are 98.46% and 98.63% in liquid medium.They have the ability of cleaning formaldehyde.
