The demand of timber increases increasingly with the rapid development of economy. the development of artificial fast-growing forest is an important and effective way to ease Chinese shortage of timber resources. Paulownia is one of the most important fast-growing timber species in China. Paulownia forests consume a large number of soil nutrient because of rapid growth and short rotation. Soil nutrient is the most important material basis for soil fertility. Therefore, reasonable fertilization is one of the main technical measures to improve soil fertility and promote tree growth, and is one of the important foundation for sustainable development of forestry.Based on the determination of soil balance analysis phosphorus, soil potassium buffer capacity, the site nutrition effect model and target biomass, the amount of fertilization was proposed which was (N0.42,P0.16,,K0.36)t/hm2, and a field calibration study was conducted about young Paulownia forest in the moderate site condition. Fertilizer calibration tests was designed including 6 treatments. That is theâ… (N1P1K1),â…¡(N2P2K2),â…¢(N3P3K3),â…£(N4P4K4),â…¤(N5P5K5),â…¥(CK), with 3 replicates. The results showed that all of fertilization treatments had significantly influence on growth of young Paulownia fortunei forest, but there wasn't notable difference among the groups. The results showed that all of fertilization treatments had significantly influence on growth of young Paulownia fortunei forest, but there wasn't notable difference among the groups. To the 4-year old Paulownia fortunei, the effect of the fertilization treatmentâ…¢(N3P3K3) was the best treatment to the DBH, height and volume in the first year. The amount of fertilization was (N 0.320kg,P 0.060kg,K 0.190kg)/tree.In the second year, the effect of the fertilization treatmentâ…£(N4P4K4) was the best treatment to the DBH, height and volume. The amount of fertilization was (N 0.495kg,P 0.098kg,K 0.300kg)/tree. The amount of fertilization was (N 0.851kg, P 0.158kg,K 0.490kg)/tree in two years.
