Neoseiulus californicus (McGregor) as a potential biological control agent has been widely used to control spider mites in greenhouse and fields in other countries.Although a lot of studies on the application of predatory mites for biological control has been carried out in our country, there's no report about that of N. californicus presently. The developmental duration and fecundity of N. californicus fed on different prey (Tetranychus urticae and Tetranychus truncatus) were studied at five constant temperatures (15,20,25,30 and35℃) , 80±5%RH and a photoperiod (L:D) of 16h : 8 h.The main conclusion are as follows:1 . Influence of prey (Tetranychus urticae and Tetranychus truncates)on development, adult oviposition, longevity and fecundity of N. californicus were studied in laboratory. Results showed that both prey can make N. californicus development and reproduction successfully:the developmental duration of N. californicus reared by different prey was nearly the same; influence of prey on totle egg production is significantly, but no influence on oviposition periods and oviposition rate.2.The influence of five constant temperatures on N. californicus was studied in laboratory. Results showed that the developmental duration, oviposition periods and adult female longevity decreased with increasing of temperature between 15-35℃;The survival rate decreased with increasing of temperature, it produced more femal progeny at the early and middle oviposition period than later.3.Construction and analysis on life table were studied for experimental population of N. californicus fed on different prey at five constant temperature. Results shows that the net reproductive rate (R0) of N. californicus fed on Tetranychus urticae were 37.80,43.54,48.25,37.06 and 18.46 at five constant temperature (15,20,25,30 and 35℃),respectively.When N. californicus fed on Tetranychus truncates, the net reproductive rate (R0) were 33.94,49.31,34.42,37.06 and 26.77,respectively.
