Brontispa longissima(Gestro)(coconut palm beetle, CPB) was ranked as second class quarantinable dangerous pest forbidden to be introduced into mainland of China. Asecodes hispinarum Bou?ek, an important larval endoparasitoid of Brontispa longissima(Gestro), was introduced into Hainan Province of China from Vietnam in March, 2004, to control CPB. During the period of controlling CPB by the parasitoid wasp, There are three problems to be solved: low parasitism, small population size, and hard to establish in field. We hypothesized that temperature is responsible for these problems, because temperature is one of the important ecological factors affecting the growth, development, reproduction and other activities of insects, and with no exception to Asecodes hispinarum Bou?ek. The effect of temperature on Asecodes hispinarum Bou?ek was studied in the present thesis. The main results are as follows:(1) Sex ratios, the adults of emerged and unemerged, and egg loads were compared between the field and laboratory populations of Asecodes hispinarum Bou?ek. T-test indicated that all these parameters differed significantly. The female proportion of the field population is higher than that of the laboratory population; the emerged adults in field population was lower than those in laboratory.(2) Emergence of Asecodes hispinarum Bou?ek at higher temperatures was studied. Larvae and pupae of Asecodes hispinarum were treated at 32℃, 34℃, 36℃. The longer the treatment, the fewer number of adults emerged, especially those from pupae. Longer treatment led to female-biased sex ratios at 32℃,but not significantly different at 34℃and 36℃.(3) The effect of rapid hot hardening on the activities of protective enzymes of Asecodes hispinarum Bou?ek larvae. Activities of SOD, POD and LDH increased and CAT activity declined when treated for longer time at 32℃and 34℃, but activities of SOD, POD and LDH declined and CAT activity increased when treated for longer time at 36℃. The activities of trehalase and SDH showed parabola trend with the treatment time, which reached the highest value respectively at 32℃for 48h, 34℃for 10h, and 36℃for 2h. The activity of GSH-PX raised during the treatment time at 32℃, but at 34℃the activity reached the highest value for 12h , and then declined, at 36℃the activity reached the highest value for 4h, and then declined. The TchE activity reached the highest value for 24h and the loweset value for 60h at 32℃, it showd insignificantly differences during different treatment time at 34℃and 36℃.(4) HSP70 expression level has been detected quantitatively by Double Antibody Sandwich Elisa under 30℃,32℃,34℃and 36℃after being treated for 2 hours, which showed that HSP70 expression increased at higher temperatures than at 25℃, which showed the characteristics: 32℃>34℃>30℃>36℃.
